Whilst creating a repeating pattern image for work purposes, I found myself inspired to do this.
It's not 100% accurately measured out, but it could pretty much repeat over and over - a man with a gun behind him, with a gun behind that man, etc etc.
Repeating images aside, I had a lot of fun making this. There are a few different ways you could look at it, so I'll leave that bit up to you.
Totally inspired by fantastic old film noir - when trenchcoats weren't just for flashers and insurance sales men always solved crimes... for some reason.
I would really appreciate some critique on this piece. I got to a stage where I felt it could be improved but just ran out of things to do. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
I love this image! I was just wondering if i could use it for a banner? I'm not making any money off of it. And i'd of course put your copyright on the bottom
The only thing I could think of being improved is that I part of me wants to see this shot(painted) from a slightly lower perspective, where the shadows are really looming over the people. Somehow that totally says film noir to me. Or Hitchcock. I'm not sure I've ever seen a real film noir so I may just be making stuff up now. I really love this piece! the first thing that drew me in was the cheekbone shadows!
Ooh, that's a really nice idea actually (taking the view from a lower perspective). It's not exactly something I could tweak, but it's a good idea - maybe for another picture!
Also, never seen a film noir? I highly recommend 'the third man' if you want to try one out. Like all film noir, it might seem slow to get into it, but it's a fantastic film.
Thank you for the kind and well thought out message
I would love to see that picture if you do it! I've heard a lot about the third man, I'll have to check it out! Thank you for listening to my long winded comment!
I modified the image to tile pretty soon after you posted this, and I've have been using it across my 3 monitors since then. It's a kick to see the image seamlessly sprawl across my entire work area. I hope you don't mind. [link]
