Artist's Comments

Without going into the depressing topic of suicide too much, this is merely a gory picture for the sheer practice of facial features.
In particular, the tense look of fear.

This was mainly playing about with expressions (being a prat infront of a mirror, then) and experimenting with colour.
I particularly like the red glow from below, giving a bloody look to all the lines, especially in his mouth.

Its very pretty, it looks like there is a slight glow from the blood against the face
The Blood pattern is strange tho., the blood spraying high could be explained if the bullet was a hollow point, but then you should have spray going towards the bottom as well....meh, sorry, *blushes* for some reason i think of such things., but whilst thinking of such things you have to think of design elements, which this does well. with the strong reds towards the top it draws attentions by contrast to the "quitter" bitty.,

AWESOME pic! The colours are amazing! I like the red glow bouncing off the lower face and the intensity in the guys face.

The blood splatter is done well. The facial expression is really good too. Somebody call an ambulance (because we care). :ambulance:

My god... that piece just made me stop and stare for almost five minutes. The composition drew me in, such great colours on the stark white with simple typography, my favourite blend of things. There is something about this that hangs between realism, graphic and comic styles that I really really like. If you could think of an appropriate reason, this would make such a kickass billboard. How long did this piece take you in total, and did you do it straight to the computer, or work over a hand drawn sketch, if you don't mind my asking?

I like the way the viewer has to guess what's going on the first time he sees this. I think it's a good decision not to include the gun in this drawing. Good message you manage to get across, too.

I'm glad youre the kind of person who actually look at a piece in full, rather than just an overview!
Thanks for the great comment, I felt the need to answer your questions.
This piece didn't take too long. I started, as always with good old pencil to paper. Thats why its kind of messy, I didn't clean up many of the lines afterwards, as I like the sketchy lines. Then I went about colouring it on Photoshop. This is the more time consuming part.

I guess in total it took about 2 to 3 hours?
As for the compositioning part of it, I tend to draw "pretty" people. And pretty people have symmetrical faces, so I can get away with drawing only half of the face, the other side is to be assumed that its the same. And it also creates a great place to hide something off shot, in this case the gun, or whatever it may of been....

Then I had the rest of the page to fill in, and most of that was to fill in with light whisps of blood, as the main focus is on the right. And then the "quitter" to weight it out on the left.

Thanks again for the nice comment!

wow... thanks for the great response! It's good to know how long this kind of things takes people, gives me a mark to work towards. Two to three hours shows exceptional skill, in my humble opinion. Guess I'd better get practicing!
